Man charged after wife, mother-in-law found dead in Brampton home

By News Staff

A 29-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder after his wife and mother-in-law were found dead in a Brampton home Friday night.

Peel police were called to check on a residence for a domestic incident on Starhill Crescent, near Dixie Road and Sandalwood Parkway East, around 10:45 p.m.

When they arrived, police found two women with fatal stab wounds — Baljit Thandi, 32, and her mother, Avtar Kaur, 60. They died at the scene.

A child found in the home was not injured and is now in the care of the Children’s Aid Society.

Police found Thandi’s husband Dalwinder Singh in the home and arrested him. He has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

Const. Rachel Gibbs said there was no connection between the investigation and a murder in Mississauga just hours later, describing them as unrelated domestic incidents.
