Durham police seek suspects in six related carjackings

Durham regional police are warning citizens about a series of carjackings in Ajax.
Investigators believe two suspects are responsible for six related robberies and attempted robberies in November.
In two recent incidents, both victims were approached in the driveway of a home and threatened with a firearm.
On Nov. 13, shortly before 9 p.m., two men approached a 17-year-old girl as she was exiting her vehicle at a residence in the Westney and Rossland Road area. The men allegedly forced her into the backseat of her car at gunpoint, drove to a nearby bank machine and withdrew cash using her bank card. Police say they let the girl out of the car shortly after and then drove off. The vehicle was found abandoned a short time later. The victim was not injured or harmed during the incident.
In a similar incident on Nov. 16, around 1:15 a.m., a 24-year-old man was assaulted by a masked suspect as he was getting out of his vehicle in his driveway in the Ravenscroft Road and Rossland Road area. A second suspect with a firearm demanded the man’s keys and personal property. Police say the victim refused and a struggle ensued, leaving the man with minor injuries. The suspects fled on foot empty handed.
Police are looking for two black males last seen wearing dark clothing. One man is described as approximately five-foot-nine and in his early 20s. The second man is about six feet tall and in possession of a hand gun.
Police are asking people to be extra vigilant while exiting their vehicles and keep their doors locked when possible, especially late at night.
