On the ground with GlobalMedic’s aid mission to Antigua

Volunteers from across Canada have put their lives on hold to fly thousands of miles to help those whose lives have been destroyed by Hurricane Irma.

Among the organizations offering help is GlobalMedic, which provides emergency relief to those affected by natural disasters.

One of the heaviest hit areas is Barbuda, where the cost of repairs could be as high as US$300 million — well over the island’s means. It was one of the first areas to be ravaged by the Category 5 hurricane and suffered catastrophic damage.

CityNews reporter Adrian Ghobrial was in Antigua, where Barbudans are taking shelter, to find out more about GlobalMedic’s mission.
