3 fatal drug overdoses reported in Durham region Friday morning

Durham regional police tell 680 NEWS three people have died of suspected drug overdoses on Friday morning.
Two men were discovered deceased at a highrise apartment complex on Falby Court in Ajax at around 3:40 a.m. One of the men was in his 30s and the other was in his 40s. Police say drug paraphernalia was found inside the apartment.
At around 6:40 a.m., a man in his 20s was found dead inside a Bowmanville home. Police say drugs were involved in all three deaths.
“The coroner has requested a post-mortem to be conducted,” said Const. George Tudos. “At this point we know they are drug-related overdoses and we suspect that it may be fentanyl.”
The Greater Toronto Area has seen a disturbing rash of overdoses this summer, with fentanyl-laced heroin suspected in several recent deaths.
The spike in overdoses prompted Toronto police to recently issue a public safety alert.
