A 32-year-old man is dead and four people are injured after a shooting in Moss Park on Monday night.

Toronto police were called to the Libertarian Public House on Queen Street East at Sherbourne Street around 11:20 p.m.

Security video released by police shows the suspect walk through the bar onto the patio and immediately begin firing.

“As soon as he enters the patio area he begins firing immediately and actually approaches our … victim, stands over him and fires more shots into him,” Det.-Sgt. Hank Idsinga explained.

Three people were taken to hospital — one with life-threatening injuries, one with serious to life-threatening injuries and a third person with serious injuries. A fourth person later walked into a trauma centre with gunshot wounds.

Police said the injuries suffered by these victims were caused by stray bullets.

“The victim, who I believe is a targeted individual, is sitting in close proximity to these four other individuals and when the shooting begins, everyone begins to scramble,” Idsinga said.

“When the gunman approaches the intended victim and continues firing, he’s obviously not in complete control of his firearm and some stray bullets are ricocheting and striking some of these other victims.”

Police said the suspect then fled the area back through the bar and headed out onto Queen Street.

“Witnesses indicate he got into a vehicle on Queen Street and was last seen in an eastbound direction on Queen Street,” said Idsinga.

The suspect was last seen wearing a dark-coloured hoodie with the brand “Hollister” on the front.
