Toronto police are searching for a man after a fire gutted two homes near Queen Street and Carlaw Avenue on Tuesday.

The man is approximately five-foot-10 to five-foot-11. He’s in his 30s, with a thin-to-medium build and a scruffy black beard. He was wearing a white shirt with a logo, a dark jacket with side vents, a dark baseball hat with a logo, dark pants, and white high-top running shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

The fire began in a semi-detached home on Booth Avenue around 3:35 a.m. on Tuesday. That home was under construction, Toronto Fire platoon chief Kevin Shaw said.

The fire had spread to the other half of the semi. Firefighters helped the two people in that home escape, and they were not hurt.

Firefighters also evacuated the two next-door homes as a precaution.
