A 35-year-old Toronto man is dead after a shooting in an apartment building in North York.

Police were called to the building on Jane Street at Yewtree Boulevard, near Finch Avenue, just after 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

The victim, who may have been shot with a shotgun, was found without vital signs and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 11 p.m.

On Thursday, police identified him as Dameion McFarland.

So far, there is no word on a suspect description.

“We have indications that a man was seen fleeing the building and that there may have been a shotgun used in this attack,” Const. David Hopkinson told 680 NEWS.

This is the city’s sixth homicide of the year, and the third fatal shooting in Toronto in a week.

On Monday, two men were murdered in separate shootings in downtown Toronto.

One victim was found near Adelaide and George streets around 3 p.m. Hours later, a second man was found dead near Gerrard and Sumach streets, in Regent Park. Both shootings were targeted, Toronto police said.
