Dashcam video captures Highway 27 rollover

By News Staff

A dashcam video captured a frightening crash and rollover in the northbound lanes of Highway 27 in Etobicoke on Thursday.

Video of the entire incident was posted to YouTube by user Tim G.

He says it happened at around 2:15 p.m. just north of the 401, when a vehicle attempted to pull an illegal U-turn, cutting off another car.

“The cut off car’s speed was in excess of 100km/h, and consequently lost control of his vehicle after clipping the cutter car’s corner,” he wrote in the video description. “He then zig zagged in front of me, rolled up the east embankment onto its roof, and then rolled back onto his wheels.”

The trailing motorist who captured the video pulled over to assist, and says the driver in the vehicle that rolled over was in shock.

“I administered minor first aid until the paramedics arrived,” he wrote.

Toronto police tweeted about the incident and later confirmed that one person was hospitalized with serious, but not-life-threatening injuries.

There’s no word on charges.
