Canadians Drake, Lilly Singh among top influencers on the Internet

By The Canadian Press

Time Magazine has released its list of the 30 most influential people on the Internet.

Two Canadians join the likes of Barack Obama and Donald Trump on the 2016 unranked list.

Toronto rapper Drake gets a nod for his “Hotline Bling” video that featured goofy dance moves that launched scores of parodies.

The Internet churned out enough GIF’s, Vines and spoofs to help make the song the Raptors ambassador’s biggest hit.

Indo-Canadian vlogger Lilly Singh – a.k.a. Superwoman – is the other Canuck on the list.

She’s quickly becoming one of the biggest stars on YouTube, with more than eight-million subscribers and over 1.1-billion total views.

Other names on the list include rapper Kanye West, his wife Kim Kardashian and “Late Late Show” host James Corden, who is just about to mark his first anniversary as host of the show.

Harry Potter creator J-K Rowling gets a mention, as does citizen journalist Matt Drudge of Drudge Report fame.
