Boy, 12, dies after being stabbed at downtown Toronto hotel

A 12-year-old boy has died after he was stabbed inside the Cambridge Suites Hotel on Richmond Street near Victoria Street this morning, police say.

One man is in custody, but Det. Omar Khan says no charges have been laid as the investigation continues.

“On scene, police arrested a male,” said Det. Khan. “This incident involves family members who were guests at the hotel.”

Police were called to the scene around 5:50 a.m., where the boy was found at the hotel suffering physical trauma.

Khan told reporters that the incident involves a family member of the victim, but will not be identifying the victim or the man in custody.

It’s unclear if the stabbing happened inside a hotel room or in a hallway.
