Blackbird Infrastructure tabbed as preferred builder for Highway 407 East Phase 2

Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Transportation say Blackbird Infrastructure Group has been selected as the preferred proponent to design, build, finance and maintain the next phase of Highway 407 East.

Over the next several weeks, contract details will be negotiated and the cost of the project will be announced publicly this winter.

Construction work to extend Highway 407 about 22 kilometres from Harmony Road in Oshawa to Highway 35/115 in Clarington is anticipated to begin this fall.

The Highway 407 East Phase 2 project will also connect Highways 401 and 407 with a 10-kilometre link that will serve as a north-south freeway, and provide eight new interchanges.

Phase 1 _ which will extend the 407 by 20.3 kilometres between Brock Road in Pickering to Harmony Road _ is currently under construction and scheduled to open late this year.

Highway 407 East will be a publicly owned, tolled highway, with tolls set and regulated by the Ontario government.

Blackbird Infrastructure Group team includes Holcim (Canada) Inc. Dufferin Construction Company, Louis Berger Group, and Cintra Infraestructuras
