Witness may have info about Richmond Hill sex assault, York police say

York regional police have released security camera footage of a man who may have witnessed a sexual assault in Richmond Hill.

The alleged incident occurred at Yonge and Bernard streets around 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 13.

After a woman left a bus, police say she was approached by a man in the Yonge and Canyon Hill Avenue area who demanded money, and then sexually assaulted her.

Surveillance video of the area shows someone police think can help with the investigation.

The potential witness is described as between 20 and 30 years old and was wearing a jacket, jeans, glasses and baseball hat.

Last month, police said the suspect may have injured his right hand during the attack and that the wound could still be visible.

The victim described him as five-foot-eight to five-foot-11, with a medium skin tone, a thin build and wearing dark-coloured clothing, a maroon or brown jacket and a grey ski mask.
