Rookie NDP resigns citing family and personal health reasons

A rookie New Democrat MPP has resigned his seat at Queen’s Park.

Sudbury’s Joe Cimino, 44, said he is quitting for family and personal health reasons.

He was elected in the June 12 election.

NDP leader Andrea Horwath said she received his resignation with great sadness.

“I know this is a tough decision, but Joe is doing what’s best for his personal health and well-being of his family,” Horwath said in a statement.

Horwath said Cimino has been a valuable member of the NDP caucus, a local champion for his community and is a dedicated husband and father of two young daughters.
