Rob Ford drops out of Remembrance Day ceremony due to health issues

Rob Ford’s office says the Toronto mayor has cancelled plans to attend the city’s Remembrance Day ceremony due to his health issues.

Doctors discovered a rare and aggressive cancer in Ford’s abdomen in September. He has had three rounds of chemotherapy.

Chief of staff Dan Jacobs said in an email that Ford will not be among the local politicians attending the service at Toronto’s Old City Hall cenotaph.

Jacobs says a local councillor will speak on Ford’s behalf.

Mayor-elect John Tory, who will take office Dec. 2, will be attending the ceremony.
