Rob Ford returns to hospital Monday for more chemotherapy

Rob Ford is expected to return to Mount Sinai Hospital on Monday for his third round of chemotherapy.

The outgoing Toronto mayor revealed last week that his two previous rounds of treatment failed to shrink a cancerous tumour in his abdomen.

Last week, Ford gave an update on this health saying he is expecting three to five more rounds of chemotherapy and cannot have surgery until the tumour has shrunk.

He is also on antibiotics for pneumonia.

In September, Ford was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, malignant liposarcoma, a type of cancer in fat cells.

Doctors said in September that they would re-evaluate the situation after two intense rounds of chemotherapy to see if the tumour had shrunk and whether or not surgery was an option.

Ford remains mayor until John Tory takes over in December.

He will then return as councillor for Ward 2, Etobicoke North, a seat he previously held before the 2010 municipal election.
