John Tory releases campaign donor list

Toronto mayoral candidate John Tory released his campaign donor list on Saturday.

The list shows that over 5,000 donations have helped him raise close to $2.5 million for his election campaign.

Some of the donors include Blue Jays president Paul Beeston, former Ontario premier David Peterson, MaRS chairman Gordon Nixon and BlackBerry Ltd. chairwoman Barbara Stymiest.

Olivia Chow was the first to release her list last week, which included over 6,800 names. She raised $1.76 million.

Since then she has been calling for both Doug Ford and Tory to release their donor lists.

Ford says now that Tory has released his list, he will do the same before the end of the weekend. He added that he has put in hundreds of thousands of his own money into his campaign.
