INTERVIEW: John Tory says Toronto’s traffic top priority as mayor

Toronto mayoral candidate John Tory says the first priority if he’s elected mayor is to get traffic moving in Toronto.

Political affairs specialist John Stall interviewed Tory live in studio at 680News on Tuesday morning.

“Day one, job one, what’s it going to be?” Stall asked Tory about what he would focus on the first day as mayor.

“It is to get the traffic moving because I think that while I have SmartTrack as an important transit proposal — that’s a project that’s going to take some time, and I am going to get at that right away,” Tory said.

“But I’ve got to get at some common sense measures to get the traffic moving because I think it’s in a nightmarish state and has been getting worse and worse.”

Tory also said he thinks the higher level of voter turnout in the advance polls is an indication that the people of Toronto want change.

“I think they certainly don’t want four more years of the division and chaos,” Tory said.

Stall will also interview mayoral candidates Olivia Chow and Doug Ford live on-air on Wednesday and Friday, respectively, at 7:30 a.m.
