Doug Ford falls behind in latest Forum poll

Doug Ford has fallen further behind frontrunner John Tory in the race to become Toronto’s mayor, according to the latest poll on the election.

The results from a Forum Research survey published on Thursday, show Tory with 39 per cent support — six percentage points more than Ford, who has 33 per cent, and well in front of Olivia Chow, who is up slightly at 23 per cent.

The poll has Tory leading Ford in Etobicoke-York and in the old City of Toronto. The two are tied in Scarborough and Ford is favoured in North York.

Olivia Chow is strongest in the old City of Toronto and far behind in Scarborough and Etobicoke.

John Tory has led in 16 consecutive polls since early summer and his approval rating remains the highest at 55 per cent to Ford’s 40 and Chow’s 46.

Meanwhile, Toronto had its highest ever turnout for the first day of the advance vote on Tuesday.

The city said 28,046 people cast ballots that day — more than the 16,000 who showed up during the entire six weekdays of advance voting during the last municipal election in 2010.

Including the weekend totals, about 77,000 turned out for the advance vote four years ago.
