Murder charge laid in Rexdale community centre shooting

A Mississauga man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a shooting outside a Rexdale community centre last year.

Police say Neeko Mitchell, 25, was “ambushed and killed execution-style” outside the front doors of the North Kipling Community Centre on Nov. 24, 2013, where he had gone to watch his brother play in a basketball tournament.

Police said there was no evidence to suggest that Mitchell had done anything before that night or on that night that contributed to his death but that he was the intended target.

On Monday, Reshane Hayles-Wilson, 23, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

In June Tyrone Knott, 28, was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder. A Canada-wide warrant was also issued for Kashana Duncan, 28, on the same accessory charge.
