Severe thunderstorm watch ends for Toronto, parts of GTA

A severe thunderstorm watch has ended for Toronto and the surrounding areas.

Environment Canada said that a rainfall of 50 to 75 millimetres was expected at the height of the storm.

Parts of the GTA were belted with heavy rain, causing flooding in Burlington and forcing the closure of a section of Highway 407 and the QEW.

UPDATE: Toronto police are warning drivers to take caution after the downpour.
