Fire doused at west-end waste disposal site

Fire crews have doused a fire at a waste disposal site in Toronto’s west end.

The fire began around 8 p.m. on Friday at the site on Shorncliffe Road in the Dundas Street West and Kipling Avenue area.

There were no reports of injuries and a cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known.

All lanes of Shorncliffe remained closed from North Queen Street to Dundas while firefighters investigate.

The TTC was diverting the 123 Shorncliffe bus both ways via Kipling Avenue.

Toronto fire had 17 pieces of equipment on site, including several pumpers.

There was heavy black smoke billowing from the site and it could be seen from as far away as Highway 427.
