All lanes of the Gardiner Expressway had reopened by 2:30 p.m. after being closed for close to two hours.
The westbound Gardiner Expressway was closed at the Humber bridge near Park Lawn Road when a deer was spotted in the lanes around 11:30 a.m.
Police contained the deer in some green space on the north side of the westbound lanes while waiting for animal services to arrive with tranquillizers.
The animal was taken to the Toronto Zoo for treatment and released later Monday.
