Get ready for some more commuter headaches on Toronto streets.

Three intersections along Queen Street East in the city’s east end will be closed off over the spring and summer months for streetcar track work.

The TTC will be installing and replacing tracks and updating infrastructure at Leslie Street, Broadview Avenue and Victoria Park Avenue.

Below is a list of the closures and the work being done:

-Leslie St. and Queen St. E. (May 11 to June 21)
The TTC will replace aging water mains and install new streetcar tracks that will connect to the Leslie Barns, which will store the city’s new low-floor streetcars.

-Victoria Park and Queen (May 11-31)
The TTC will replace tracks and switches.

-Broadview and Queen  (June 30 to July 25)
The TTC will replace tracks and switches.

During the intersection closures at Broadview and Queen, the 501 Queen and 504 streetcars will divert in the area. Buses will run along Queen, between Coxwell Avenue and River Street, and increased bus service will be provided on Greenwood, Jones and Pape Avenue to and from Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth).

Businesses along the construction stretch will remain open, and TTC and Leslieville/Riverside BIA officials are encouraging residents to continue to support them.

The TTC released a video explaining the work being down and how TTC riders, drivers and cyclists can best navigate around the city during the closures and construction.

Separate partial intersection closure

The intersection of Queens Quay and Lower Simcoe Street will be partially closed to traffic from May 7 to May 22 due to streetcar corridor rebuilding.

Motorists heading northbound will be diverted to Rees Street or Dan Leckie Way, while drivers heading southbound can use Yonge Street, Bay Street, York Street, Rees Street, Lower Spadina Avenue or Dan Leckie Way in order to reach Queens Quay.
