Hundreds to attend 2nd annual Vimy Gala

More than 400 people, including elected officials and members of the Canadian Forces, will gather Monday night to remember a key moment in Canadian history, the Battle of Vimy Ridge.
The second annual Vimy Gala hosted by the Vimy Foundation will begin at 6 p.m. at the Fairmount Royal York in downtown Toronto.
With three years until the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, supporters will be on hand to help raise awareness and announce plans for the centennial commemorations set for 2017.
Over three days in April of 1917, Canadians soldiers took control of one of the most heavily defended German positions of the entire western front during the First World War.
