RCMP seeks young people’s help to name new working dogs

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is looking for young people to help name their new recruits — 10 new German Shepherd puppies.

Entries are being accepted online, and police are looking for original and imaginative names for the working dogs.

The names must start with the letter “G,” cannot be more than nine letters and must be one or two syllables. Those submitting the names must also be 16 years old or younger.

The deadline for entering is March 5 and the winners will be announced on April 15.

The 10 children whose names are selected will each receive a laminated 8×10-inch photo of the pup they name, a plush dog named Justice and an RCMP cap.

Three ways to enter

  • Online at rcmp-grc.ca
  • Email the child’s name, age, address, telephone number and the suggested name for a puppy to pdstc-cdcp@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
  • Send a postcard or a letter to the address below. Make sure to write down the child’s name, age, address, telephone number and the suggested name for a puppy.
