Teacher accused of assaulting Mississauga student

Police have charged a 47-year-old math teacher accused of assaulting a high school student in Mississauga last October.

Nicola Vescio was arrested on Dec. 11, 2013, and charged with assault after an incident at Iona Catholic Secondary School involving a 15-year-old boy.

Police said Vescio, who lives in Oakville, has been a teacher with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board since 1997 and they’re concerned there may be more victims.

Vescio has been suspended from his job while the trial goes forward. He was due to appear in a Brampton court on Friday.
