Mayor Ford says he wasn’t drinking at nightclub

Mayor Rob Ford says his event-filled Saturday night in Toronto’s west-end was a dry one.

Ford attended an arts fundraiser on Queen West before heading over to Muzik nightclub on the Canadian National Exhibition grounds where he posed for photos, several of which were quickly posted on social media.

On Monday the mayor said he remained alcohol free at the events.

“No I wasn’t drinking,” he said at city hall. “I don’t drink.”

Ford says he has not had a drop of alcohol since November, following his admission that he had smoked crack cocaine.

Coun. Doug Ford, who has taken on the role of the mayor’s campaign manager for the 2014 municipal election, said when his brother walked into the nightclub people went wild.

“The managers and owner said over at Muzik, they’ve had rock stars, they’ve had rock stars, they had Bieber and nothing, nothing compared to when the mayor came out there,” he said. “He relates to the young folks. He gets along with them. They understand him. He understands them.”

Coun. Ford said his brother was drinking an alcohol-free and sugar-free energy drink during his stop at the nightclub.
