Suspect sought after woman assaulted in Oshawa

Durham police are searching for a suspect after a woman was assaulted in Oshawa early Saturday morning.

Police say the 27-year-old woman was walking west on Gibb Street around 5:30 a.m. when a man approached her from behind.

The woman was assaulted and the suspect allegedly tried to drag her down a path to a wooded area, police say.

She was able to break free and ran to a nearby home and called police. The suspect was last seen running north down the path.

Officers searched the area but couldn’t find him.

The suspect is white, about 25 to 30 years old, five-foot-six to five-foot-seven, with a medium build and lightly-coloured, unkempt facial hair.

He was wearing a dark blue winter jacket with black stripes around the elbows and a dark, fitted toque and dark pants.
