SNL takes aim at Rob Ford

He’s been fodder for late night talk shows for weeks and now Saturday Night Live has taken aim at Mayor Rob Ford.

The show opened with Ford, played by Bobby Moynihan, being interviewed on CBC and proposing that his public image was being tarnished by unflattering photos of himself appearing in the media.

The skit then took shots at the mayor’s multiple apologetic press conferences, his use of vulgar language as well as his drug and alcohol use – including having Ford buy crack during one of the press conferences.

It ended with Ford appearing on 60 Minutes where Lara Logan, played by Kate McKinnon, said she believed everything the mayor said after calling him a patriot, a hero and a role model.

SNL had been in reruns since the Ford scandal became international news. Earlier in the week head writer Seth Meyers said that Ford would be a topic on the show – which has a longstanding tradition of political satire.
