TTC to welcome 29 billionth rider on Wednesday

The Toronto Transit Commission will mark a major milestone on Wednesday when the 29 billionth rider passes through Queen Station.

TTC chair Karen Stintz, CEO Andy Byford and chief customer officer Chris Upfold will present that rider with a special gift.

The TTC was formed in 1921 and now has the third largest transit ridership in North America, after Mexico City and New York City.

The TTC set another record this year with a ridership of 521 million so far – and is expected to hit another milestone next year, with anticipated 540 million riders.
