Talk show hosts having a ‘Ford’ field day

Mayor Rob Ford’s personal problems continue to provide punchlines for comedians and talk show hosts far beyond Toronto’s borders.

It’s the second time this year that Ford has been the target of fodder for late-night talk show hosts — the first instance being when the crack video scandal first broke in May.

On Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” Monday night, show host Jon Stewart said, “I would very much like to know what happened down at the Danforth.”

On ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” a red-faced Ford look-alike stood outside what appears to be crystal at the Royal Ontario Museum in a fake tourism ad.

“This looks like crack, come here baby. Come here baby,” the look-alike said as he points to the crystal.

The clip ends with: “This message is brought to you by the Toronto Board of Tourism. Visit Toronto.”

Craig Ferguson also took a few jabs on CBS’s “Late, Late Show.”

“The mayor’s facing re-election next year. I think the police were tipped off about the drug use when they heard is new campaign slogan, “get Toronto back on track. Vote for the guy that likes to smoke crack.”

On WWE’s “Raw” — which was being filmed in Calgary — former wrestler John Layfield said he partied with Ford, then admitted he was joking because “I’d be indicted by now.”

Satellite radio shock jock Howard Stern also offered his take. “By the way, this is a major city, Toronto. It ain’t Mayberry.”
