Mayor Ford’s approval rating has climbed, poll finds

A new poll released Friday shows Mayor Rob Ford’s approval rating has actually climbed since the announcement by Police Chief Bill Blair that a highly reported video does exist.

The Forum Research poll taken on Thursday shows that Mayor Ford’s approval rating has climbed slightly, sitting at 44 percent.

“That number is highly driven by what’s going on in his professional life and his job as mayor, not so much his person life,” said poll spokesperson Lorne Bozinoff.

According to Bozinoff the question now becomes can he continue to do his job after not being at City Hall during Friday’s budget committee meeting.

“We asked if he should resign or not, a large majority, 60 percent said yes.”

The poll also revealed that a staggering 98 percent of the people polled had heard about the alleged crack video.

“We don’t get numbers in the 90’s, this is 98 percent – it almost looks like a typo but it’s not. It’s just a huge number.

A majority, 68 percent of those polled believe the video is authentic and the majority feel it should be made public.
