Province announces $45M for Ontario Music Fund

The provincial government is hitting a high note Monday after announcing a new incentive to help the Canadian music industry.

It’s called the Ontario Music Fund and Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport Michael Chan says $45-million will be provided for the Ontario music industry to help support and create jobs and position the province as the leading destination to record and perform.

Chan speaks at the announcement of the new Ontario Music Fund.

Juno Award-winner and Canadian hip hop artist Kardinal Offishall thinks this new fund is “amazing and a great way to kickstart a lot of international superstars.”

Gil Moore, drummer and vocalist of the Canadian power trio Triumph, says “it’s a great day for musicians in Ontario and it’s a great day for the music industry in general.”

Graham Henderson, president of Music Canada says “this may be one of the most important music moments in history and music in Canada, certainly in several decades.”
