Man dies after struck by vehicle in Scarborough

TORONTO – A man in his 80s is dead after he was struck by a vehicle in Scarborough on Tuesday.

He was crossing Steeles Avenue East, near Kennedy Road, at around 9:30 p.m., when it was hit by a westbound car.

The man was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police told CityNews that Traffic Services has taken over the investigation.

Steeles Avenue was closed from Old Kennedy and Kennedy roads for the police investigation, but has since reopened.

So far in 2013, 47 people have died in traffic-related crashes in Toronto — 29 of them being pedestrians.
