Hundreds of police officers are running from Toronto to Ottawa to remember fallen officers and to raise funds for their families.
The memorial run left Queen’s Park at around 9 a.m.
The National Peace Officers’ Memorial Run lasts three days and covers 460 kilometres. Since 2005, $95,850 in donations have been raised.
An officer who nearly died last spring in a half-marathon is participating in the ninth-annual relay.
Toronto police Const. Andrew Rosbrook collapsed during the Toronto Marathon on May 5.
“When I woke up in the hospital, it was one of the first things I decided: I was going to continue to run,” Rosbrook said.
