Parks Canada offers free bus service for autumn colour seekers in Banff

BANFF, Alta. – Parks Canada is trying to ease traffic congestion in the Alberta Rockies this fall.

It’s offering a new, free shuttle bus service for people flocking to the Banff and Lake Louise areas to see the larch trees display their autumn colours.

Product development officer Julie Champagne said over the past few years, the rush to catch the display before the leaves fall has seriously slowed traffic in the area.

Visitors can catch the bus from the Lake Louise overflow parking lot to the Moraine Lake parking lot this weekend and next weekend from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The service will run every 20 minutes.

Champagne says the shuttle will make the road safer.

“We’re really hoping visitors are going to take advantage of this shuttle service; the road is going to be safer for everyone and they can just enjoy the ride,” she said.
