TORONTO – Students took part in a Toronto police speed enforcement campaign near Cosburn Middle School in East York, Friday.
Police conducted the blitz along Cosburn Avenue, west of Coxwell Avenue, between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Students, with the assistance of police, used radar guns to catch vehicles going too fast in school zones.
One driver was pulled over for going 52 kilometres an hour — that’s 12 kilometres over the speed limit.
Students have this message to speeders: “Slow down especially in a school zone like this because just last year, there were three kids hit just in this property.”
Drivers who were pulled over had two options: either receive a ticket from police, or safety advice about the dangers of speeding along with a student-made ticket.
Most motorists took the student option.
