Canadian National Exhibition: Whether it’s the stomach-flipping midway rides or culinary creations, the CNE has become a beloved Toronto tradition. Celebrating its 135th year, the action kicks off this Friday and runs until Sept. 2. More than 1.3 million people are expected to enjoy upwards of 200 attractions, exhibits and performances. Mabuhay! Philippines Festival:  Enjoy one of the largest celebrations of the Philippines’ heritage and arts in Toronto at Mabuhay! The three-day event celebrates both traditional and contemporary Filipino culture. Harbourfront Centre, 235 Queens Quay W. Friday-Sunday. Free. harbourfrontcentre.com

Yogathon Toronto: Pull out your stretch pants and mats and join hundreds of yogis, health enthusiasts and beginners at the second annual Yogathon in the heart of downtown Toronto. Saturday. Yonge-Dundas Square. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. $25. You can also register online at yogathoncanada.org.

Ai Weiwei: According to What?: The AGO celebrates one of the most powerful figures in contemporary art when the work of China’s Ai Weiwei makes its Toronto debut — the only Canadian stop on a North American tour. The exhibition features more than 40 large-scale works of art including sculptures, photographs and video and audio installations. Art Gallery of Ontario. 317 Dundas St. W. Opens on Saturday. Blue Flag Beach Bonanza: Toronto hosts some of the cleanest beaches in the world and was recently awarded “world-class” status by the international Blue Flag program. You can celebrate the sparkling waters and pristine sands at the 2013 Blue Flag Beach Bonanza at Woodbine Beach. There will be sandcastle competitions, scavenger hunts, kite flying and more — all to help raise awareness about the Blue Flag program. Woodbine Beach. 1675 Lake Shore Blvd. E.
