MPPs accuse new LCBO chair of being unprepared for position: Report

TORONTO – The new chair of the LCBO was criticized by MPPs for being unprepared for his post, according to a Toronto Star report.

During his confirmation hearing at Queen’s Park Wednesday, Ed Waitzer told panel members he did not have a specific vision for the future of the liquor board.

He also said he may not have informed answers as he was not a current board member.

Waitzer — a senior partner at Stikeman Elliott LLP — was approved by the committee but not unanimously.

He will be replacing Philip Olsson, who was confirmed as the chair of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation Wednesday. Olsson was appointed to the position after Paul Godfrey vacated it in May.
