Doug Ford defends mayor’s appearance at Taste of the Danforth

He’s done it many times in the past and on Tuesday he did it again — Coun. Doug Ford came to the defence of his brother while talking to the media at city hall.

Mayor Rob Ford is once again at the centre of a social media frenzy after admitting he had a few beers at the Taste of the Danforth over the weekend.

Three videos were posted on YouTube as the mayor wandered the streets and spoke to several people, appearing inebriated on Friday.

“Is Rob entitled to have a few beers once in a while? Absolutely. I don’t drink, I haven’t drank in 30 years, but this is getting blown out of proportion. Again, no one got hurt, everyone had fun,” Doug Ford said.

Doug Ford said he’s never seen the mayor get loaded at a public event, taking shots at the media during what he called a slow news week, targeting the Toronto Star.

“I’ve got an idea for the Toronto Star. Why doesn’t Rob go to the Toronto Star and fix their finances?”

Doug Ford said Torontonians should focus on the mayor’s work at city hall instead.
