TORONTO – Councillor Mammoliti to appear in court next week to face charges of alleged financial irregularities.
A special prosecutor has laid charges under the Municipal Elections Act, alleging Mammoliti went over his spending limit and did not properly record campaign contributions and expenses.
Mammoliti could face up to $25,000 in fines for each violation if convicted of the charges.
The councillor ran for mayor in 2010 but dropped out to seek re-election to his council seat.
He has been recovering from surgery in April.
The case will be heard on Thursday.
