Igor Gorgonzola cheese recall expanded due to listeria concerns

OTTAWA – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has expanded its Igor brand Gorgonzola cheese recall to include additional products.

The CFIA said the products may be contaminated with listeria.

All lot codes and best before dates are affected.

The products recalled are:

  • Gorgonzola Dolce (1.5 kg, UPC 2443880 014541)
  • Gorgonzola Piccante (1.5 kg, UPC unknown)
  • Gorgonzola Dolce DOP (200 g, UPC 8 021398 256802)

The CFIA said the Italian-made cheese may have also cut into smaller packages by some retailers.

This product was distributed in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and New Brunswick but the CFIA said it may have been distributed in other provinces.

There are no reported illnesses linked to eating this cheese, which was imported by Agropur of St-Hubert, Que.

Food contaminated with Listeria may not look or smell spoiled but it can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea.
