Woman, 83, dies after being hit by car in North York

TORONTO – An 83-year-old woman has died after she was hit by a car in North York late Saturday night.
The incident happened around midnight on Sheppard Avenue East, just west of Don Mills Road.
Police said the woman was struck while crossing Sheppard in front of the Esso station on the intersection’s northwest corner. She was not at a marked crosswalk.
The woman was taken to Sunnybrook Health Science Centre with life-threatening injuries and died five hours later.
The Toronto police traffic services unit is investigating.
