5 things to do this weekend: Honda Indy, SoundClash Festival & Salsa on St. Clair

Honda Indy Toronto: The Honda Indy is back and bigger than ever. For the first time in event history the 2013 Honda Indy Toronto will feature two IndyCar Series races in one weekend. In addition to world-class racing there will also be BMX stunt shows, live entertainment, interactive games and activities as well as celebrity appearances. Exhibition Place. Friday-Sunday. SoundClash Festival: This live music festival runs for three days and features artists like Chairlift and Canadian indie rock band Born Ruffians. The SoundClash Music Award also takes place during the festival, with nominees such as Kashka, The Jessica Stuart Few trio and Brendan Philip, who are all vying for the $10,000 in cash prizes. Salsa on St. Clair: Canada’s largest Latino-themed street festival offers two days of salsa dancing fun. The festival also features Latin food, live music and dance lessons. St. Clair Avenue West between Christie & Winona. Saturday, 12 p.m. – 11 p.m. Sunday, noon-9 p.m. Free. www.tlntv.com/salsa

Festival of India: This 41st festival, which celebrates ancient India and Indian culture and art, features a parade and many colourful performances of classical Indian dance and music. A major highlight is the delicious and free vegetarian feast for all who attend. Saturday-Sunday. Various location and times. Free. www.festivalofindia.ca

Bata Shoe Museum Sneakerfest: The Bata Shoe Museum is welcoming NYC visual artist Shantell Martin who will be creatively filling its front window with an amazing performance drawing. The inside of the museum will feature hip-hop dancers, treats and sneaker-themed arts and crafts. Bata Shoe Museum. Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Sunday, noon-5 p.m. Children: free.
