Man charged with attempted murder after Whitby stabbing

WHITBY, Ont. – A 47-year-old man is facing multiple charges after a stabbing incident in Whitby.

Durham Regional Police responded to a Pilkington Crescent home around 11:30 a.m. Sunday where officers located a 36-year-old man with multiple stab wounds.

He was transported to hospital in critical condition.

Police say the two men knew each other and were involved in a verbal dispute that escalated into violence at a home.

Richard Atanasoff of Whitby is charged with attempted murder and several weapons offences and has been remanded into custody.
