Hamilton police arrest man wanted for sexual assault, break and enter

TORONTO, Ont. – Police have arrested a Toronto man believed to have sexually assaulted a woman and a young girl in an East York home on Thursday.

It’s alleged Elric Benjamin MacArthur, 46, forced his way into the home of a woman in her 20’s in the Coxwell and Gerrard St. East area. He was armed with a knife, sexually assaulted both the woman and the young girl, and then took items from the home before fleeing.

He was arrested in Hamilton, Friday, shortly after 4 p.m.

Police do not believe this was a random attack.

MacArthur is wanted for sexual assault with a weapon, sexual interference, forcible confinement, break and enter to commit an indictable offence and robbery.

He is expected to make a court appearance on Saturday morning.

Police are thanking the public for helping them make a quick arrest.
