Costco store in Mississauga evacuated due to noxious fumes

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – A Costco store in Mississauga, Ont., was evacuated Thursday because of noxious fumes.

Police, fire and hazmat crews cleared the building on Laird Drive, near Dundas Street West and Winston Churchill Boulevard.

Peel Regional Police told 680News a chlorine puck somehow ended up in a garbage compactor, sending the fumes through the building.

It’s not yet known if anyone was injured.

There’s no word on when that Costco location will re-open.
