TORONTO – Toronto police say they have arrested 44 suspects, laying over 224 charges in the year-long operation Project Traveller.
Police released a list of people charged in the sweep Monday. A full list of those charged is available here.
Ten suspects remain outstanding.
Police have charged 44 people from Toronto, Windsor, Edmonton and Detroit with 224 offences.
Project Traveller targeted alleged members of the street gang Dixon City Bloods or Dixon Goonies. Police allege the accused were involved in gun smuggling and drug trafficking.
Officers in tactical gear carried out a series of early-morning raids Thursday targeting suspected drug and gun traffickers, making 28 arrests — 19 in Toronto and nine in Windsor.
One of the raids targeted an apartment complex where an alleged video appearing to show Mayor Rob Ford smoking crack cocaine was reportedly located.
680News has not viewed the alleged video and cannot verify its existence.
Police have not said whether Ford was in any way part of the year-long investigation.
According to a release, since the beginning of Project Traveller, 42 firearms, more than 175,000 grams of drugs, $570,000 in cash, one Taser and more than 100 rounds of ammunition.
Police have not identified 10 outstanding suspects and nine suspects who are being transferred to Toronto who were arrested prior to June 13.
The investigation is ongoing.
