Gas leak leads to closures in Burlington

BURLINGTON, Ont. – Police say a natural gas leak in the Plains Road area of Burlington is active, Friday evening, as efforts to repair the leak continue.

Emergency crews and Union Gas repair crews were called to the scene just before 12:30 p.m., when the 20-centimetre line ruptured.

Plains Road East from Fairview to Brant, and Maple Avenue from Fairview to Plains, are closed to both pedestrians and traffic, and are expected to remain closed into early Saturday morning.

Rail service, however, is not affected by the leak, and there are no additional safety concerns.
