Twelfth-annual Meagan’s Walk hosted in Toronto Saturday morning

TORONTO, Ont. – Nearly 4,000 participants took part in a walk from Fort York to the Hospital for Sick Children Saturday morning.

The walkers were part of the 12th annual’s Meagan’s Walk, which took place at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The event was started to help raise money for brain-tumour research. To date, tmore than $2.7 million has been raised.

Closing ceremonies were set to take place on Elizabeth Street, between Gerrard and Elm streets, following the walk.

Road closures in that area were expected to remain until about 4 p.m.

Meagan’s Walk was started in honour of Meagan Bebenek, a 5-year-old girl who died of brain cancer.
